HJSplit is a remarkably simple and easy-to-use little application which can split any file you like into parts of a predefined size, so that sharing them or storing them is made easier. It can also join split files back together and compare parts to see if they're the same.Based in just one small executable (there's no installer for this old school app!), the utility weighs in at a tiny 300kb and doesn't have the world's best design, but it works surprisingly well. HJSplit splits files into chunks of your chosen size, very quickly indeed. Joining files together is just as painless and simple.HJSplit is a small but very effective little utility which will split and rejoin any file you like.

Author's review. HJSplit is a file splitter which enables you to split files of any type and size. Does not need to be installed. Just click on hjsplit.exe and the program starts. This program can even handle files which are larger than 10Gb!Now what's the use of a program like HJSplit? Think of a file of 20 Mb, and try to send this to a friend. Using email this does not succeed, it is simply too large, and how to put it onto a floppy?
HJSplit will enable you to split the large file into smaller chunks, which can be much more easily sent and stored.Of course HJSplit can join these split parts back together again, so that the original file is restored. HJSplit is very reliable, simple, small and easy to use. It does not need any installation or complicated DLLs, it just consists of one '.exe' file.

This means that you can also run it directly from a floppy or CD-Rom. By AnonymousDon't waste your time.Poor interface. You end up with segments that don't open.

The program doesn't show the content of the segments. Everything is done 'in the background.' Concept is good, but this program doesn't do it in an efficient and transparent way. I'll be uninstalling it. Cons: You have no idea what is happening or has happened. You end up with files that don't open in any conventional program.
How can you join segments that you can't see? A waste of time. Reviewed on December 13, 2010. By AnonymousHJSplit does miracles!I've just discovered this little software that allows its user to get rid of many troubles in trying to recover files (my own exp was with some mp3 files which I downloaded from Rapidshare) made in.rar or.zip for instance. With software utilities such as Winrar or Winzip it was impossible to get the files I wanted to retrieve, but once I began to use HJSplit it worked!
The files which ended, especially, with name.zip.001 and.zip.002 (example) did not work before I used HJSplit: dubious and cryptic error messages were repetitive with Winrar - it was much frustrating. The greatest thing about HJSplit is the fact that it is FREE. And, dammit, it works! Pros: too many to enumarate. Cons: not at all! Reviewed on September 11, 2010.
