Spreadsheetsoftware is important for homes, students and businesses, so we’ve puttogether a lineup with something for all these arenas.

We chosegood-quality spreadsheet software, with a solid mix of paid-for and freeproducts. To avoid oversimplifying things, we opted not to include verybasic models that don’t provide anything other than a basic grid, andwe haven’t included programs that aren’t secure, as spreadsheets oftendeal with sensitive or important data.We looked at compatibility, versatility, features and available support to determine whichspreadsheets deserved a spot on our lineup. If you need a completeoffice suite, take a look at our, where you’ll find a nice mix of free and priced options. On this site you will find as well as reviews of spreadsheet software. Your software should also have a variety of templates onhand for common spreadsheets so you don’t have to lay out budget sheets, calendars and planners from scratch every time. If you’re sharing orcollaborating with other people, make sure you can lock or freezespecific columns so others can’t accidentally edit or overwrite them.Alsonote how many rows and columns a spreadsheet can accommodate. Some areunlimited, while others restrict you to just 250. If you deal withcomplex or large quantities of data, choosing a spreadsheet applicationthat features pivot tables makes sense, as they provide an easy way ofsummarizing data. Microsoft Expression Blend

I just got off the phone with the MS Store. According to the rep (and the site), they're literally giving away XStudio 4 free to any/all XStudio 3 users, as well as owners of the other products they have listed as qualifiers. This is great news, considering the tragedy XStudio 3 is. I've kicked back to XStudio 2 after spending a lot of money on 3, only to discover how unusable and buggy it is (even after the service pack). No word on release date of 4 from MS Store rep, but he documented everything on the store site and our conversation, because he was amazed MS would offer 4 for free. His manager even verified and signed off on the rep's documentation of the store's free XStudio 4 offer. If MS does this, it will go a long way to heal the damage they did to loyal, but upset, XStudio customers who spent a lot of money on 3. I just got off the phone with the MS Store.

According to the rep (and the site), they’re literally giving away XStudio 4 free to any/all XStudio 3 users,as well as owners of the other products they have listed as qualifiers.I don’t think that that’s the case. Yes, existing owners and current purchasers of XStudio 3 do get XStudio 4 for free.

Joel.I think you're correct there and I was unclear due to my amazement about this after talking to the MS Store. All XStudio/Web 3 owners qualify for the free upgrade to 4, as written on that page: 'All Expression Studio 3 purchasers(full or upgrade) and existing owners will get Expression Studio 4 for free when available.' But as you clarified, the other qualifier products listed entitle one to a discounted 3, which then qualifies for a free 4.I can't wait for XStudio 4. I was so disappointed by 3, like many others, that I reverted back to using XStudio 2. After much reading in the forums, I understand why 3 was so bad, but Microsoft should learn from this and not release transitionproducts, like MS has explained 3 to be.

After my experience with 3, I found myself toying with Dreamweaver, which was included with my Adobe Creative Suite 4. It was a close call.but I stuck with my ol' reliable XStudio2. I don't think I'll be as forgiving if XStudio 4 is another bad one. After my experience with 3, I found myself toying with Dreamweaver, which was included with my Adobe Creative Suite 4. I don't think I'll be as forgivingif XStudio 4 is another bad one.Oh, please, do not try to do any ASP.NET development with Dreamweaver!

As of CS3, it only directly supported ASP.NET 1.1, and very badly at that! I speak from (bitter) experience!Dreamweaver is pretty good at ColdFusion (which Adobe and Macromedia before it owns outright), and somewhat decent for PHP, and you can squeak by with it for ASP Classic, but not ASP.NET! It claims support for it, but the server model hasn’t hada feature upgrade (and only some truly egregious security fixes — originally the Dreamweaver-provided custom tags needed for integration with the built-in database “features” left your sites wide open to SQL Injection! They’re stillhorrifically inefficient and not all that secure!) since ASP.NET “support” was first introduced in Macromedia Dreamweaver MX!Even Adobe realized that ASP.NET was a non-starter in Dreamweaver, and removed support for it entirely in CS4 (as you probably found out, since you actually have it). It’s still gone in CS5, as apparently is JSP support (which surprises me, since theydid have a JSP server product: JRun).
